konnte. Das Ziel ist, Menschen mehr Kontrolle darüber zu geben, wie Unternehmen mit ihren Daten umgehen. Dank der neuen Gesetzgebung wird ein europaweit einheitlicher Datenschutz gesichert. Die Einhaltung dieser Regeln wird streng durchgesetzt und im Falle eines Verstoßes können hohe Sanktionen verhängt werden.

CHS Alliance appoints Tanya Wood as Executive Director

Geneva and London, 11 May 2018 – On behalf of the CHS Alliance Board, Robert Tickner, Chair, is pleased to announce the appointment of Tanya Wood as the future Executive Director of the CHS Alliance. “I am delighted to welcome Tanya to the CHS Alliance, she will take over from Judith F. Greenwood in September this year,” said Robert.

Tanya has a strong track record of leading international membership organisations, most recently as CEO of the International Federation of Anti- Leprosy Associations (ILEP). She was the Director of Partnerships and Policy at the International Council of Voluntary Agencies (ICVA) and held various management positions at the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC). Her areas of expertise include strategy and organisational development, and developing partnership and co-ordination platforms and policies.

“The CHS Alliance is a critical platform for NGOs to ensure crisis-affected people and communities are at the centre of humanitarian and development action. I am looking forward to working with the members of the Alliance at a time when it is essential for aid organizations to apply the Core Humanitarian Standard,” said Tanya.

“I am very glad to be handing over to someone with Tanya’s background and experience,” said Judith. “I know our members will be delighted to learn of her experience of working with member organisations. I am confident that, together with our members, she will lead the Alliance to the next stage of its development, and continue to champion the importance of the Core Humanitarian Standard on Quality and Accountability (CHS) globally.”

The CHS is at the heart of the Alliance’s mission. It sets out Nine Commitments to communities and people affected by crisis, stating what they can expect from organisations and individuals delivering humanitarian assistance.

The CHS Alliance is a membership organisation, with members operating in more than 160 countries worldwide in the humanitarian and development sectors. The Alliance was founded at a Constitutive General Assembly in Nairobi 2015, and came into being in May 2016 as the result of a merger between HAP International and People in Aid.
